Tallulah Gorge

Our first waterfall hike. Well, our first documented waterfall hike. We selected Tallulah Gorge Waterfall as our first because it is only about 40 minutes from home and we only had about 1/2 a day this trip.

I have to say that it is not one of my favorite places. We are more accustomed to woodsy-path through the woods. Yes, my first clue should have been the word Gorge in the title - but, still...and granted, while we are not in the best shape we can handle a 3-4 mile hike fairly easy. But this; this is not a hike so much as a climb. So if you go, be prepared - it is beautiful and there are metal steps the entire way, but take the warning signs serious. It is a long, long way straight down and a long, long way back up. Oddly enough, my biggest problem was going down.

Then the suspension bridge; it is a lot of fun. Nerve-wracking for people like me, but beautiful and fun nonetheless.

We honestly did not make it the last portion to the very bottom as I started experiencing shaking knees on the steps and became concerned. This was disappointing and I have tagged this place for another visit at a later date when more physically prepared. Overall I would give this waterfall a 5; I was less than thrilled with the trip just being so many steps and it was a little more crowded than I would prefer.

Anyway, it was always good to get outdoors.
